Travel partners, please note that if your group consists of fewer than four persons, you will have to provide us with an additional passport belonging to a Nepalese citizen to apply for permits and to begin the Tibet Group Visa procedure. 

Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu issues visas on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10.00 hrs to 16.00 hrs.

The facilities in Tibet are basic. The guest houses in Tingri, Rongbuk, Manasarovar, Dira Puk, Zhutul Puk & Tridum are very basic. Accommodations here are the same as at Tea House Lodge on the trekking route in Nepal. 
The quality of the hotels significantly rises in Kyirong, Shigatse, Gyantse, Lhasa, and other major cities. 
Still, we respectfully request you, not to have high expectations for the tour's hotel amenities.

There are ATMs in major cities of Tibet. However, we advise you to use them just in Lhasa. You will waste a lot of time if your card gets stuck in the machine.

Credit cards are accepted at big souvenir shops and hotels above the 3-star category. 

We suggest you bring enough cash for your daily expenses during the tours. Except for shopping, nearly all of your expenses will be covered with USD 30 every day.

1 USD = Yuan 7.20 to 7.25

1 Euro = Yuan 7.30 to 7.50

We always use English-speaking Tibetan guides, however, Tibetan guides aren't exposed to the English language sufficiently in Tibet. So, please do not expect a fluent and spontaneous explanation from him/her.
Asking questions will encourage him/her to explain more about history, geography, and monuments. 

Since drivers and other hotel and restaurant employees do not understand English, communicating via a guide is the most effective way to interact with them.

Taking photographs is prohibited in sensitive areas like checkposts / Army Areas. 
If you want to take a photograph of an individual please ask him or her first, they usually ask for money.
If you want to take pictures inside monasteries, there is a photography fee. The amounts charged are usually posted before you enter the building or chapels. Some monasteries charge photography fees for various chapels.
If you have any questions, please ask your guide.

Most hotels and restaurants these days provide internet connectivity.

However please remember that some websites are blocked i.e. Facebook, Gmail, Google, WhatsApp, Viber, etc.

WeChat App is the best way to connect with friends and family, while you are traveling in Tibet & Mainland.

Due to the very high altitude of Tibet, which is over 12,000 ft, acclimatization is very important. A headache, slight nausea, and appetite loss are some of the minor symptoms and discomforts of altitude sickness that you could have until your body gets used to the higher altitude. This can take from a few hours to a couple of days depending on the individual.  

Avoid strenuous activities and consume a lot of non-alcoholic beverages according to your body's needs. Drinking three to four liters of water each day is recommended.

Remember these altitude sickness symptoms:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Lack of appetite
• Weakness or fatigue
• Lightheadedness or dizziness
• Sleeplessness
• Needles and pins
• Breathlessness when exerting oneself
• Bleeding nose
• Continuously fast heartbeat
• Feeling sleepy
• Overall malaise
• Peripheral edema (Hand, foot, and facial swelling)

1. Diamox Tablets - 250mg can improve acclimatization by changing blood PH values. Use only if you have great difficulty acclimatizing. Course: half tablet, every 12 hours, or one tablet, every 24 hours for 3 days.
2. Dexamethasone use with Diamox for HACE - 20 mg six hourly preferably under the tongue
3. Take Aspirin for a mild headache.

Before taking any medication, please speak with the doctor.

The political situation in Tibet is highly sensitive. It would be advisable to avoid talking about any political issues or topics with the guides and locals since this could make things worse. Confine yourself to the interests of the tour.
